2012 Masters Betting Preview

Tiger Woods is always a favorite on the golf odds at The Masters, and he'll probably draw even more attention on those betting lines this time around since he finally added another tournament victory to his resume. Woods ended a long drought by winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill at the end of March, claiming that tournament by five strokes over Graeme McDowell.

And heading into the major tournament at Augusta this week Woods is listed as the 4/1 favorite at Sportsbook on their Masters betting lines, which has him ahead of rivals Rory McIlroy (11/2), Phil Mickelson (11/1), and Luke Donald (16/1). Woods last won the green jacket back in 2005, when he earned his fourth Masters victory in a playoff. His previous Masters wins came in 2002, 2001, and 1997, although he's finished no worse than sixth place at the last seven tournaments.

Lee Westwood is tied with Donald at 16/1 odds to win the Masters, with Hunter Mahan next at 28/1 odds. Mahan could see some extra action on the golf betting lines this week as he is coming off a victory in last week's Shell Houston Open at Redstone; he beat Carl Pettersson by a single stroke to claim that tournament.

Justin Rose, Adam Scott, Keegan Bradley, and Charl Schwartzel are all then at 33/1 odds at Sportsbook to win The Masters this week, with Schwartzel the defending champion at the event. The 27-year-old native of South Africa beat Scott and Jason Day by two strokes last year, with Woods four strokes back in fourth place.

Ogilvy and Donald tied Woods for fourth last year, while Rose and Westwood tied for 11th, McIlroy was 15th, and Mickelson shot a 74 on the Sunday to end up in 27th.

Mickelson, who won his third Masters title in 2010, has ended up in the Top 5 at the tournament in eight of the past 11 years, and on the Sportsbook golf props for this week he's at 2/1 odds to end up amongst the top five once again at Augusta.

Woods leads the way on that list at 4/5 to end up in the Top 5 this weekend, with McIlroy at 10/11, Donald at 13/5, Westwood at 10/3, and Mahan then listed at 11/2.

Those looking to hedge their bets even more this week can get Woods at -300 odds to end up in the Top 10, and at +220 to finish outside the Top 10 at the tournament. Mickelson is at -130 for Yes and EVEN for No on that Masters prop bet opportunity.
