It started out as a weird joke: Sean Payton was chatting with Bill Parcells about coaching the New Orleans Saints in 2012.
Slow news day or the fanciful musings of some bored blogger in the Bayou, probably.
Then it quickly became a serious topic of conversation to the point where sportsbooks made Tuna the favorite to become the next head coach while Payton sits out his suspension in the wake of Bounty-Gate.
“Even as the NFL stated that Payton is welcome to appeal his one-year suspension, the groundswell of betting support has been behind Parcells,” said Mike Pickett
“Now the position is -140 (or 5/7 odds at Sportsbook) that he will serve as the interim coach.”
And oddsmakers feel the Saints will be a winning team with Parcells at the controls. Several announced -200 odds that they will make the playoffs, even before the NFL announces likely player suspensions from the defensive-line-bounty investigation.
