The Carolina Panthers feature one of the most dangerous rushing attacks in the NFL, finishing second in the regular season with 2,282 yards (142.6 yards per game) off a league-high 526 attempts on the ground and finished tied for the league lead with 19 touchdowns.
That success has carried over into the postseason as the Panthers have scampered for 296 yards (3.8 yards per attempt) and five touchdowns en route to their Super Bowl appearance.
We’ve taken a look at ways you can wager quarterback props and ways you can bet receiving props in Sunday’s big game, so let’s take a look at some of the rushing props on the Super Bowl 50 prop board.
Most Rushing Yards
At online shop Sportsbook, Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart leads the board at +120 to rush for the most yards in Super Bowl 50. While Stewart does lead the playoffs with 189 yards on the ground, he is heading into the contest a little banged up as the Panthers’ official website lists him as questionable with a bad ankle.
Denver features a pair of running backs out of the backfield in their attack in Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson, but it’s the latter that features higher on the prop board at +130. Anderson put up the better stats within his workload in the postseason as he has rushed for 144 yards on 4.6 yards per carry in two postseason games. Hillman, for comparison’s sake, has just 54 yards on 27 carries and mustered a paltry 16 yards on 11 carries versus the Patriots in the AFC Championship game.
Jonathan Stewart
Stewart has been a stud in the playoffs, carrying the ball 38 times and even busted out with his longest run of the season in the postseason - a 59-yard run against the Seattle Seahawks in the Divisional Round.
Denver is stingy on the other side of the ball, however, as its defense allowed the third-lowest rushing yards per attempt in the NFL (3.3 ypa) during the regular season.
C.J. Anderson
The Cal product has performed with the most success out of the backfield for the Broncos so far in the postseason, logging 31 carries and recording 144 yards including a 34-yard run versus Pittsburgh and a 30-yard run versus the Pats.
While Carolina’s rush D is no slouch, neither was the rushing defense of the teams Anderson has faced thus far. Pittsburgh ranked sixth in yards per attempt while New England ranked 11th in the same category during the regular season. If Denver is going to have success on offense in Super Bowl 50, the running game is going to have to be on point and keep Carolina’s opportunistic defense honest.
