Stevenson vs Conceicao Odds Analysis

Stevenson’s been a decisive favorite in his last three fights, with the odds going in his favor as long as -6000 (vs Jeremiah Nakathila in 2021). The 25-year-old is undefeated and has nine KO/TKO victories to his name.

Conversely, Conceicao has fought as the underdog in his last two fights, winning one of two decisions. The 33-year-old has eight KO/TKO wins.

Stevenson Has Fight IQ Beyond His Years

Shakur is a true boxing superstar, first for his physical talents. He’s got lightning hands and a knack for keeping his opponents at range despite his modest 68-inch reach. But those tools mean nothing if he doesn’t fight smart. Thankfully, the world of boxing has witnessed Stevenson’s evolution as his fight IQ develops and he blossoms into a shining star.

Stevenson loves to switch stances, especially when he sees an opportunity to pivot to his advantage. His opponent is orthodox? OK, easy – he’ll switch to southpaw.

The 25-year-old also loves feinting his shots to lure opponents into his laser-like left hand. And if they don’t bite, he’ll just whale on his opponent’s body with hooks instead. Conceicao is in for a night of mental and physical exhaustion once he steps in the ring with Stevenson.

Shakur Chasing Legacy

Stevenson has greatness ahead of him. A runner-up at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, the New Jersey native has been on a warpath toward becoming a great fighter.

After Stevenson wiped out Oscar Valdez in a decision victory in April, he compared himself to Floyd Mayweather, even suggesting he would’ve battered some of Floyd’s opponents worse than Floyd himself. Mayweather and Stevenson, by way of similar fighting styles (both southpaws with slick defense), will seemingly always be compared to one another.

But Stevenson isn’t on that level yet. He needs to prove himself. Conceicao isn’t exactly the top-notch opponent who will create adversity for the young phenom, but he’s an obstacle that needs fighting through.

The oddsmakers expect this bout to go the full 12 rounds (-190). If Stevenson can put the Brazilian out early, it’ll go a long way to boosting his stock.

Shakur Stevenson vs Robson Conceicao Pick

At -2000, it’s very clear Stevenson is supposed to win this fight. We don’t advise picking against him.

Where things get funky is calculating when/if Stevenson puts Conceicao away. The American last scored a technical knockout in October 2021, when his fight vs Jamel Herring was waved off in the 10th round. That bout was the latest Stevenson has scored a KO in his career, which tells us he’s OK working methodically.

Against Conceicao, we see some good value on a Stevenson stoppage win. There’s a sweet spot for Stevenson to win between Round 7 and 12.

Prediction: Stevenson to win in Rounds 7-12 (+300)
