Malott vs Fugitt Preview: Who will Win?
Let's learn a bit more about these two UFC welterweights.
How Malott Wins
The Waterdown, Ontario native has passed his earliest UFC tests, starching his first two opponents with first-round finishes.
Malott is a physically sound fighter, and he slugs with the best of em' — see his KO over Mickey Gall at UFC 273. "Proper" is also quite capable of securing submissions, as he often drops into a nasty guillotine and squeezes with all his might.
Malott's adaptability will be king Saturday. He loves a good fight, however it plays out, and the tougher fighter (usually him) will get the dub at UFC 289.
How Fugitt Wins
Fugitt will yet again play the role of gatekeeper. The 34-year-old is aggressive and fun to watch, but he's oftentimes on the receiving end of some brutal punches. Prospect Michael Morales knocked Fugitt out at UFC 277, but the American bounced back with a first-round win over Yusaku Kinoshita.
Malott wants things to get hot and heavy early. The Canadian benefits from early athletic clashes, so if Fugitt fancies himself a victory, he can't make this an athleticism competition because Malott will win. Patience is key, and Fugitt's four-inch reach advantage can help him slow-play this thing.
Malott vs Fugitt Pick
With the home crowd on his side, we'll take Malott to win inside the distance and the UNDER 1.5 rounds.
