Pitcher Money Won

A fantasy baseball guru is more interested in the pitcher’s record so they can sound smart at parties. A baseball bettor is more interested in how much money the pitcher generates on the MLB moneyline, regardless of his win/loss mark. You can also sound smart at parties with a basic knowledge of a pitcher’s moneyline stats. Impress your friends! Impress your mom! And most importantly, impress your bank account when you win your MLB wagers!

Pitcher Charts

The Pitcher Money Won/Lost charts here at Odds Shark are designed to help you handicap your wagers. The chart factors in what would happen if you wagered the same $100 on any pitcher for each of his starts, regardless of the odds. We’ll cover that below like a bedspread.

The Cy Young-winning pitcher may be 15-7 on the season with a terrific ERA, but chances are that he is a big favorite every time he toes the rubber. Basically, it means it’s harder to turn a significant profit by betting on that pitcher. Meanwhile, a pitcher who is 7-11 with a lousy ERA could be a better bet because he pays out at a bigger profit on the games he wins because he is an underdog.

Considering the Pitcher Run Support charts can give baseball bettors an edge. Again, that Cy Young-winning pitcher might play on an offensively challenged team, meaning his run support per game may be very low. He will lose some 2-1 games and some 3-2 games when he should be winning. Meanwhile, the mediocre starter on a team full of home run hitters may get five runs per game, boosting his win total – and your profit total – in the process.

Pitchers Who Lose Money

Here at Odds Shark, we break out the betting money winners and loser in separate charts. If you don’t see your favorite pitchers on the Money Won list, he’ll be on the Money Lost list. Nobody’s perfect, not even Ed Walsh who had a career ERA of 1.816 and played before any of us were even born. Shout out to the MLB Hall of Fame Class of 1946!

It’s true that starting pitchers are the biggest handicapping considerations for anyone looking to bet on baseball. You might also look at the umpire stats to see if the home plate ump for tonight’s game seems to call more strikeouts or walks. Here’s a fun fact about umpire Joe West: He has released numerous country albums. He also made inappropriate comments about Adrian Beltre during an August 2017 game. He did not, however, touch Beltre’s head.

Knowing which pitchers are traditionally moneyline winners is more important than knowing which ones are game winners or which ones have actually listened to Country Joe West’s albums.

You can see today’s baseball odds on our probable pitchers list.
