MLB Strikeout Props April 24th

MLB Pitcher Strikeout Props April 24th: Jon Gray Is Dealing

I'm back with two more MLB strikeout prop bets for Wednesday, looking to build on my winning week.

With one over and one under, here are my two strikeout props for April 24th:

Pick 1: Jon Gray Over 5.5 Ks (-130)

Mariners vs Rangers Matchup Preview - Game Time: 8:05 pm ET

Did Jon Gray turn into a strikeout pitcher without us noticing? The Rangers righty has 16 strikeouts in his last two starts (11 IP) and 25 Ks in 20.0 innings on the season. He's had a few suspect performances on the year, but the Texas pitcher has been sitting down batters with ease, too.

I'm backing him tonight for a few other reasons, too. The Mariners, Gray's opponent, have the fourth-most team strikeouts in baseball this year (231 in 23 games). As well, Gray has carved current Seattle batters in his career, holding them to a collective .180 average and .243 OBP. Put that all together, and I think we're looking at another big K day for Gray.

Pick 2: Jameson Taillon Under 4.5 Ks (-120)

Cubs vs Astros Matchup Preview - Game Time: 7:40 pm ET

Jameson Taillon made his first start of the season last week, pitching five innings of one-run ball against a bad Marlins lineup. He pitched well, but he still only had four strikeouts. In his second start of 2024, Taillon has a much harder task. He's facing an Astros lineup that's hitting pretty well and not striking out at all. Houston's 159 team strikeouts are the fewest in baseball by 12 Ks.

Dating back to last season, Taillon has gone three-straight outings without striking out more than 4.5 batters. And, in his lone start against Houston last year, the Cubs righty had just one strikeout.
