Stanford Has Beaten UCLA 8 Straight Times
In what has the potential to be one of the best games this weekend, Stanford takes on UCLA in cross-divisional Pac-12 action as the Bruins look to end their eight-game losing streak against Stanford that started back in 2009.
The big question heading into this matchup is simple – can UCLA stop Christian McCaffrey? The Cardinal’s key back had 238 combined yards of offense against the Trojans last week in Stanford’s win and cover performance and now has 404 total yards in just two games. He and Lamar Jackson will more than likely be neck and neck for Heisman contention all season.
UCLA, completely opposite its Week 4 opponent, has yet to cover a spread in its first three games and has opened as slight dogs to the No. 7-ranked Cardinal. The tiny spread leaves very little room for error if you’re backing the dogs in this one and with the trends pointing the way they are, I don’t know if a bet on the Bruins ATS is an advisable one.
The Bruins have not covered in five straight games and Stanford is 9-3 ATS in its last 12 games against teams with winning records. There are some arrows, however, pointing at an UNDER as the total has gone U in 12 of Stanford’s last 15 games on the road and six of the last seven meetings between these teams have gone U.
