Cal Looks to Continue Strong Stretch at Home vs Texas
The California Golden Bears look to make it two in a row against Texas on Saturday, when they host the red-hot Longhorns at California Memorial Stadium. The Golden Bears take an impressive 5-1 straight-up home record in their last six into this Week 3 contest, while Texas visits the coast riding a three-game SU win streak, including a pair of impressive road victories.
California is coming off a roller-coaster 2015 season, which featured a 5-0 SU start before a 1-5 SU stretch against conference opponents. The Golden Bears have also proven to be a shaky bet at home, going 1-3 against the spread in their past four, and failed to cover last weekend in a 45-40 road loss to San Diego State.
Texas entered the current campaign amid high expectations, and has not disappointed. The Longhorns opened the season with a thrilling 50-47 overtime victory over Notre Dame as 3.5-point home underdogs, and followed up with a 41-7 pummeling of Texas El Paso, covering as 31-point chalk.
However, the Longhorns are winless SU in their past three against Pac-12 squads, and dropped a 45-44 decision to California last season, ending a five-game SU winning streak against the Golden Bears that dated back to 1959.
