Boston Bruins vs Toronto Maple Leafs Series Preview

Michel's Take: Of the five games in this series, the first-period total has gone UNDER three times and pushed once. I like that trend, a lot. And the odds are even better at -115.

Now, let's consider how Boston has seen the first-period total go under 60% of the time in the playoffs since 2020. For Toronto, they're 6-4 vs the UNDER in their last 10 playoff games.

How about we take it a step further? Since 2020 in playoff games following overtime, Toronto is 5-2 vs the first period UNDER. To me, all of that points to the UNDER hitting in the first period tonight.

PS: Toronto is also 2-5SU after going to overtime in the playoffs. So maybe sprinkle a bit on Boston at -108 on the moneyline.

Josie's Take: Hmm... this seems familiar. if the Leafs win tonight, the haunting memories of 2013 and 2017 will be back for Toronto.

As of this morning, Matthews's status is still up in the air. Though, they won last game without him. In fact, it was rookies Knies, the OT hero, and Woll who kept the series alive. Woll finally had a good performance, recording a .964SV% on 28 shots.

I don't know if Toronto wants to return to Scotiabank Arena. The vibes are pretty hostile, as Leaf fans booed them at the end of Game 4. On the statistical side, the Bruins are 25-9-9 on the road this year, too.

For me, this can go in either direction. Toronto shows up when they want to show up. To be safe, we've seen three of five games, including the last two straight, hit the UNDER. Dating further back, the UNDER is 7-2-1 in the last 10 regular and postseason meetings.

Michel's Pick: Period 1 UNDER 1.5 (-110)
Josie's Pick: UNDER 5.5 (-102)
