Another MMA betting superstar will return to the Octagon this Saturday night when UFC 167 rolls into Las Vegas.
Georges St-Pierre will put his UFC Welterweight title on the line against the No. 1 contender Johny Hendricks and will look to make it nine straight title defenses with a victory. [ Fight of the Night and KO of the Night betting odds ]
Handicappers at Sportsbook currently have a -265 MMA odds price on St-Pierre, while the Hendricks upset will pay +225. 29 prop options are also available at Sportsbook, and the ones offering some good UFC odds value would include Hendricks wins by KO/TKO at +250, and St-Pierre wins by decision at -140 or by unanimous decision at -120. In the co-main event Rashad Evans will have to cope with the wrestling ability of Chael Sonnen. If Evans keeps a safe distance he should have little problem paying out on the -185 option at Sportsbook. Sonnen will need to get his hands on Evans to have a chance at victory, a task few have even been able to come close to doing.
Prop options that make the most sense are Evans by KO/TKO at +365, Evans by decision at +140, or Sonnen by decision at +240. Evans should be able to pick apart Sonnen and slowly wear him down for the victory.
Two top-ten ranked Welterweight fighters will be looking to make statement at UFC 167 when Rory MacDonald meets the surging Robbie Lawler. MacDonald is the superior technical fighter but Lawler will be swinging for the fence looking for the big shot.
Action on MacDonald is a surprisingly expensive -350. Lawler is a very dangerous fighter and it may be worth putting a bit down on the +300 prop option that Lawler wins inside the distance, as Sportsbook often has the best odds on MMA underdogs.
The most likely scenario would include MacDonald taking his time and working his technical approach until Lawler can’t handle it anymore. If MacDonald wins it will either come via decision (+145) or by late-fight KO/TKO, making the OVER 2.5 rounds at -125 a good option.
