Daniel Cormier will put his UFC light heavyweight title on the line when he faces off against Anthony Johnson at UFC 210 in Buffalo, New York. DC has had some bad luck since becoming the champion, as he was scheduled to put his belt on the line twice against Jon Jones but both fights were eventually canceled. Since May 2012, ‘Rumble’ has lost just one fight and that was against Cormier.
Books have opened Cormier as a slight -120 fave with Rumble coming back at -110. The first time these two faced off we saw both men exhibit their signature skills, Cormier with his wrestling and Johnson with his power. Ultimately, DC survived the early flurry and locked in a choke on a gassed Rumble.
Cormier uses a meat-and-potatoes style of solid boxing and excellent wrestling skills. Nobody has ever been able to keep up with DC’s mixture of grinding skill set and incredible cardio (aside from Jon Jones).
Rumble is the definition of a power puncher. The former welterweight (yes, he used to cut down to 170) may very well have the heaviest hands in all of MMA. Johnson has picked up 16 of his 22 career victories via knockout, which includes each of his past five wins.
