The spectacle that is Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor is almost here but we have one last public meeting between the two fighters before they meet in the squared circle – the weigh-ins.
Of course, betting odds have been released for the event in question. The total for Mayweather’s weight has been listed at 152.5 (-130/-110) while McGregor’s is 154 (+250/-400) per online book.
Mayweather and McGregor have agreed to fight at 154 pounds but there has been plenty of rhetoric from the TMT team that McGregor is struggling to make weight.
Mayweather himself has claimed that McGregor is “extremely heavy” and also alluded to the idea that the Irishman has needed several IVs. McGregor’s nutritionist then fired back and said that Conor’s weight cut is “perfect,” adding, “I’d even call it a masterpiece.”
McGregor’s weight will likely be the bigger story heading into the weigh-ins, as we’ve seen Mayweather fight as low as 130 pounds in his younger days. “The Notorious One” is currently the UFC lightweight champion at 155 pounds, but was also the featherweight champion at 145. That being said, McGregor was clearly unhealthy cutting down to 145 and is much better suited for 155.
If you think the two fighters will get physical with each other, then you can get some tremendous betting value. Either Mayweather or McGregor to throw a punch at the weigh-ins is coming in at +700. It seems rather unlikely that either man will crack and throw a punch, as the entire press tour and media coverage has been more about the mental battle.
