What’s The Deal With This Table?
This table shows the records for the last 100 games played in Major League Soccer (MLS). You can use this data to make MLS predictions. Confused? That’s OK. We’ll break it down and you’ll be a seasoned bettor in no time.
$ Of Units Opening/Closing
The dollar sign ($) is used to represent the number of the profit or loss based on a bettor placing $100 on each of the last 100 MLS games generated by the computer on the opening and closing lines. When you see “To Win,” it means the win is based on straight-up or moneyline bets.
Moneyline or straight-up bets are interchangeable terms that describe a straightforward pick. For example, the Montreal Impact are playing the Philadelphia Union and you bet on the Impact to win. If the Impact do win, then you’d win too.
Another term you’ll notice on our Picks page is “ATS.” This stands for “against the spread” and indicates the win based on picks that are made against a spread set by oddsmakers. In betting, the spread is the number oddsmakers use to give people more wagering options besides wins and losses.
A spread in MLS would be something like .5 or 1.5. This means that one team would need to lose the match by 1 or 2 goals or the other team would have to win by that same amount. If not, your bet won’t cover the spread and you won’t win.
Sometimes referred to as “totals” betting, “Total O/U” is the amount won on OVER or UNDER predictions. For MLS, the OVER/UNDER can be anything that will affect the outcome of the match such as injuries, weather conditions, and how well a team does on offense and defense.
Record Opening/Closing
Here at Odds Shark, we want to make things as easy as possible to help you make your MLS picks. We list wins first and losses second, while pushes and ties are listed third. “ATS” represents the record based on picks made against the spread (as we mentioned above). “To Win” shows the record based on moneyline bets (also mentioned above). “Total O/U” is the record on OVER or UNDER pics (this is mentioned above too).
