The WWE is taking the squared circle to King Abdullah International Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for the Greatest Royal Rumble on April 27. The event is a landmark for the sheer size and spectacle of the matches, including the first-ever 50-man royal rumble. Of course, that means that there are plenty of betting odds out there for those so inclined.
Here is a little background on some of the announced matches and the betting odds for the entire Greatest Royal Rumble.
50-Man Royal Rumble
Some may say that 50 men in a royal rumble is too many – pointing to the 40-man rumble in 2011 – but there is no doubt that it has allowed the WWE to trot out some massive talent for the card. But the betting favorite entering the bout is Braun Strowman (+150). It makes all the sense, with Strowman having little in the way of a storyline, and having him tossing opponents out with ease would be a great spectacle for the WWE to show on television.
The second-best odds belong to Daniel Bryan (+350). There is no hotter wrestler in the world than Bryan since his shock return to active competition and giving him a win in a landmark event would make the crowd pop big time.
Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns – Steel Cage Match
Brock Lesnar will put his Universal Championship on the line yet again when he takes on Roman Reigns, this time in a steel cage. Though most people expected Lesnar to drop the belt to Reigns at WrestleMania, some have theorized that the WWE may want to put the belt on “The Big Dog” at the Greatest Royal Rumble – assuming the crowd will be friendlier to Reigns.
The steel cage stipulation would also mean that Reigns could win the championship by pinning Lesnar, with escaping the cage also a method of victory.
The Undertaker vs Rusev – Casket Match
The Undertaker will be working his first full match in over a year when he takes on Rusev in a casket match. The Undertaker will almost certainly win this bout, which is why he is a hefty -800 favorite, with Rusev coming back at +450.
After all the drama surrounding Rusev’s place in this match, it will be interesting to see how it plays out. No doubt that having The Undertaker lose this match would seem rather odd but maybe the WWE convinced Rusev to stick around by promising him some sort of push.
