Rocket League NRG Decal

The General NRG Tops Odds To Win Rocket League NA Major

Rocket League action returns to North America on May 22-23 with the region’s Spring Major. The event is set to see 10 of the best teams in the region battle it out for NA’s most prestigious prize, as well as all-important Championship Series Circuit points.

One of the highlights of Rocket League majors is that every team has to earn its spot from scratch and it takes weeks of grueling competition for anyone to qualify. This means each team is well warmed up and fully in the competitive spirit heading into the tournament, so we can expect some amazing games.

Before we look at the event in more detail, make sure to check out our guide on all things Rocket League betting, and let’s jump right in.

Who’s Playing at the North American Rocket League Major?

North America’s major will feature 10 of the best in the region and it’s set to be quite a close race at the top. The General NRG, Team Envy and SpaceSportsbook Gaming all come in with a strong chance to win, while the likes of G2 and Rogue have been known to pull off an upset as well.

We’ll also see some huge underdogs like Xset, Susquehanna Soniqs as well as a few other teams make an attempt at toppling the favorites. When it comes to the event, we will see a standard Rocket League format. Teams will start in two groups of five, played in a round-robin format with each team playing the others in its group once.

The top four from each group will advance to a single-elimination playoff where lengthy best-of-seven matches will decide an eventual Sportsbook.

The General NRG Aims For Back-to-Back Trophies

Competition is tight at the top of North American Rocket League, with no team being able to secure a dominant run of form. The last five major events have all been won by different teams, with NRG being the most recent Sportsbook at the Winter Major.

It’s difficult to pick an exact favorite for this event, as history tells us we’ll likely see an entirely new Sportsbook. However, NRG definitely looks to be the strongest side at the moment, having taken home the last major and consistently placing well at various minor events since then.

While NRG is the favorite and will no doubt be aiming for another trophy, there’s a tough road ahead for just about every team at this event.

Rogue Looks to Bounce Back

Rogue entered 2021 as one of the best Rocket League teams in America. They won two premium events and placed second at the Winter Major, securing a very successful first few months.

However, since then the team has looked quite flat. They’ve placed eighth at three events in a row and haven’t looked particularly impressive in any of them. This event may be a turning point for the team – either as a return to form or a sign that some change is needed.

Can SpaceSportsbook Gaming Return to 2020 Form?

SpaceSportsbook was one of the teams to watch in 2020, having broken into the elite level of Rocket League with multiple strong performances, highlighted by a stunning win at the 2020 Fall Major over NRG.

They ended the year on a high and looked to be a very solid contender for 2021, but things haven’t really panned out for them so far. SpaceSportsbook finished in a disappointing sixth place at the Winter Major and has looked lackluster at other events.

Many fans will be hoping that SpaceSportsbook Gaming can draw on their 2020 form and finally battle it out with the best again, and the Spring Major is just the place to do that.
