The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series drivers try to tame the ‘Tricky Triangle’ as they battle in the Gander Outdoors 400. The top two drivers in the standings, Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick, share the best odds at +260 to drive into victory lane at Pocono Raceway on Sunday.
Online sportsbook Sportsbook has the aforementioned Busch and Harvick Sportsbook at +260 followed by Martin Truex Jr. at +325, Kyle Larson at +850, Brad Keselowski at +1200, Ryan Blaney at +1600, Clint Bowyer at +1800, Denny Hamlin at +1800, Joey Logano at +2200 and Erik Jones at +2500 rounding out the top 10.
Busch looks to continue his torrent Pace this season
The current point leader, Kyle Busch, has already collected five checkered flags this season and holds a 53-point lead over second place Kevin Harvick. Busch has driven his No. 18 Toyota to victory lane once at Pocono in last year’s July race and has finished in the top five six times over 27 starts. The Nevada native has qualified on the pole in three of the last six races at the ‘Tricky Triangle’ and has landed in the top 10 four times during that span.
Also working in the 33-year-old’s favor is that Toyota has won three of the last six races at Pocono, including the last two races. Busch has led at least one lap in each of the past six runnings at Pocono, including leading the most laps in both races last season.
Harvick is a force to be wrecking with
There has been nobody more dominant than Kevin Harvick in 2018. The No. 4 car is writing the book for consistency, finishing inside the top five in 15 of the 20 races this year, including a series-high six wins. The California native has yet to taste victory at Pocono through 35 career starts, but has found himself the runner-up in four of the last eight running’s at the ‘Tricky Triangle’.
Harvick is coming off a win last week at New Hampshire and in each of his wins this year he has followed it up with a victory the week after. The 42-year-old won in Atlanta and then drove to victory lane in the next two weeks, similarly, he claimed the Dover race and then earned the checkered flag the week after. At + 260, can Harvick become a back-to-back Sportsbook for the third time this season?
Can Truex Jr. Complete the Season Sweep at Pocono?
When the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series set up shop at the ‘Tricky Triangle’ in June, it was Martin Truex Jr. who carried the checkered flag at the end of 160 laps. The reigning champion now looks to become the first driver to complete the season sweep at Pocono since Dale Earnhardt Jr. in 2014.
The New Jersey native enters this race behind Busch and Harvick in the standings and overall wins with four. Truex Jr. has finished in the top five a total of five times through his 25 starts at Pocono, including two victories. He has also led five or more laps in each of the last four races at this track. With +325 odds to win Truex Jr. could be the man to pick for this weekend’s Gander Outdoors 400.
