NFL Hall of Fame Game Texans vs Bears Best Bets
The ascending Houston Texans battle the Chicago Bears in the NFL's preseason opener. Those hoping for a glimpse of CJ Stroud or rookie sensation Caleb Williams will be disappointed to learn its unlikely either take the field on Thursday night. Starters typically play only a handful of snaps - if any - in the Hall of Fame game, and these coaches won't want to risk their young stars.
That being said, the Texans have a number of experienced NFL backups in the likes of Davis Mills (26 career starts), and Case Keenum (66 career starts). On the flip side, Chicago will likely be starting Tyson Bagent (4 career starts) and Brett Rypien (4 career starts).
The Bears will also be playing in a new offensive system this season, while the Texans are familiar with the philosophy of offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik. On top of that, the Texans are a phenomenal 7-3 SU in their last 10 preseason contests. For those reasons I'll roll with the underdog Houston Texans to come out on top in the 2024 Hall of Fame game.
