On November 27, 2017, the Prince of Wales announced the engagement of his son Prince Harry to American actress Meghan Markle, with the wedding taking place at St. George’s Chapel in England on May 19, 2018. Because you can bet on anything, oddsmakers quickly got busy gearing up for the royal affair.
Online sportsbook Sportsbook has released a full list of odds for the wedding, including what color Kate Middleton’s hat will be, what color the Queen’s hat will be, who will walk Meghan Markle down the aisle and whether or not Kate and the Queen’s hats will be the same color.
Kate Middleton’s hat odds
For a royal princess, the Duchess of Cambridge is not especially flashy. Kate and her husband, Prince William, are often seen wearing relatively normal clothes in public. Middleton will be making her first public appearance since giving birth to the couple’s third child, Louis, on April 23. Rumor has it Middleton’s dress will be designed by Alexander McQueen, the designers of her wedding dress as well as the gown she wore for her sister Pippa’s wedding.
According to the odds, green is the +300 favorite, with blue (+500), pink (+500), yellow (+600) and purple (+700) not far behind.
Queen Elizabeth’s hat odds
The Queen is known for wearing bright and unorthodox colors in public events so she can be easily spotted by crowds, so it’s important for bettors to take note. When it comes to odds on the color of the hat she’ll wear for the wedding, green, white, cream/ivory and blue are the +400 front-runners, with black (+600) and silver (+700) next on the list.
Who will walk Meghan Markle down the aisle?
There’s been no shortage of drama surrounding the princess-to-be’s father Thomas Markle, and according to recent reports, he's expected to miss the wedding altogether due to surgery. Instead, her mother, Doria Ragland, is the odds-on -200 favorite to hand her off to Prince Harry. Also on the board are Prince William (+300), Prince Charles (+1000) and an “other” option (+300).
