The semifinals of the Copa America kicks off with Argentina vs Canada. Soccer experts Nick Holz and I have teamed up to give you a few Argentina vs Canada prop picks.
We've taken a look at any time goal odds where Nick fancies Jonathan David to score. We look at the bookings market where I feel Ismael Kone seems likely to get a card. Finally, we look at the corners market and feel the OVER is the right bet to make.
Argentina vs Canada Prop Picks: Anytime Goal Odds
Player | Odds |
---|---|
Lionel Messi | -105 |
Lautaro Martinez | +150 |
Julian Alvarez | +175 |
Alejandro Garnacho | +333 |
Enzo Fernandez | +333 |
Nicolas Gonzalez | +333 |
Odds as of July 9
Nick Holz's pick: Jonathan David (+600)
David has scored a goal at the Copa America and set up another. He missed a glorious opportunity to open Canada's Copa scoring in the first match between these two teams and will be a huge part of Canada's attack in the semifinal.
I like the odds of David making good on his chances tonight and finding the back of the net. The Lille striker and his partner Cyle Larin have combined for 2.5 xG this tournament and scored just once. Eventually, Canada will take their chances and I believe David buries one tonight.
Michel Anderson's Pick: Lautaro Martinez (+150)
If you caught my expert pick for tonight's matchup, you'll know that I took OVER 1.5 goals from Argentina. So I'm going to follow up that pick by taking an Argentinian forward to score. Who better than Inter's Lautaro Martinez?
I was down on Martinez's Golden Boot odds from the start because I didn't think Argentina would put him in an advanced enough role. But with four goals on 2.9 xG, it's clear I was wrong. He's been an unstoppable goal-scoring machine in this tournament.
He only needed 12 minutes to score against Canada the last time. Now he'll have more time as he likely starts for Argentina.
Argentina vs Canada Prop Picks: Player To Be Booked Props
Player | Odds |
---|---|
Moise Bombito | +120 |
Samuel Piette | +175 |
Stephen Estaquio | +175 |
Kamal Miller | +187 |
Richie Laryea | +187 |
Ismael Kone | +187 |
Odds as of July 9
Nick Holz's Pick: Moise Bombito (+120)
Bombito demonstrated his aggression with a yellow card just seven minutes into Canada's match with Chile. He's been fantastic at this tournament but will be in tough against a talented Argentina front line.
Michel Anderson's Pick: Ismael Kone (+187)
I totally agree with Nick's Bombito pick. But instead of doubling up on the same guy I'll take a player who picked up a booking the last time these two played: Ismael Kone.
Kone has to contend with a tough and massively talented Argentinan midfield. Trying to contain just about any of La Albiceleste's weapons will be massively difficult. He'll have to get physical to assert himself in the midfield which will lead to a booking.
Argentina vs Canada Prop Picks: Corners Props
OVER | UNDER |
---|---|
9 Corners (-102) | 9 Corners (-123) |
Odds as of July 9
Nick Holz's Pick: OVER 9 Corners (-102)
Three of Canada's four matches at the Copa America have gone OVER this total. While Argentina surpassed this total themselves with 11 corners versus Chile. While this is a knockout stage match, I expect things to open up in the second half, especially if one team takes the lead.
Michel Anderson's Pick: OVER 9 Corners (-102)
In Argentina's four games in this tournament, we've seen an average of 9.5 corners. For Canada, that number is a flat 9 corners. That's some 9.25 corners, on average for games Canada or Argentina have played in.
At -102 that seems like great value for a corners prop that's likely to hit.
