MLS Golden Boot Odds - Suarez

MLS Golden Boot Odds: Bet On Luis Suarez To Win The Scoring Title

MLS Golden Boots odds are confident DC United striker Christian Benteke will end the year as the top goal scorer with -143 odds. The former EPL striker has 19 goals and only a handful of games left to play in the MLS season. But don't discount Inter Miami's Luis Suarez at a mouthwatering +400.

MLS Golden Boot Odds Favorite: Christian Beneteke

Benteke has always been a reliable striker with 14 goals for DC last season. This year he's topped that with 19 in 26 games played. Those 19 goals see him at the top of the goalscoring table with a two-goal cushion.

The key to Benteke's goal-scoring is his conversion rate. He's scoring on 22% of his shots which is the highest rated of any player who's got 60 or more shots.

DC's four remaining opponents are New England, Nashville, Charlotte and Columbus. The first three sides are in the bottom half for shots allowed. Considering his conversion rate, Benteke could easily pop in a few more goals against these opponents. Furthering his lead in the goal-scoring table.

All the pressure is on the names below Benetke in the goal-scoring race. Another goal or two could all but guarantee him the Golden Boot.

MLS Golden Boot Value Bets

Want more value in this market? Great. Here are three value bets for those trying to find that outside-of-the-box bet.

Denis Bouanga (LAFC)

The reigning Golden Boot winner is only two goals back of Benteke with 17. With the second-best odds at +300, oddsmakers feel he's got the best shot to nick the title out of Benteke's hands.

I can't blame them, not only did Bounaga win the title last year, he did so by scoring an impressive 11 goals in his final eight games. Scoring a bunch late in the season again isn't out of the question considering who's left on LA's schedule.

Three of La's final four games are against San Jose, Kansas City, and St. Louis. The three worst defensive squads in the West. Against these opponents, Bouanga could easily find the goals needed to win his second scoring title.

Luis Suarez (Inter Miami)

With 3.15 shots Suarez isn't what you'd call a "volume shooter" like some of the other leading scorers in the league. But the Uruguayan doesn't need quantity when he's such a quality player. Suarez is putting 68% of his shots on target, a rate that's well above any of his fellow strikers. He's also leading the league for goals scored above expected at +6.4. Suarez only needs a half-chance to score a goal.

Then consider he's got Lionel Messi to unlock defenses and make incredible setup plays for his former Barcelona teammate.

Suarez already has a Golden Boot award from the Eredivisie (Netherlands), Premier League (England) and La Liga (Spain). He's torched better defenses than the MLS. It's no surprise to see him score as many as he's scoring now.

I loved his odds when they were +275 and I love them even more now that they're at +400.

Bradley Wright-Phillips, the former Manchester City player, is the only two-time MLS top goal scorer. The Englishman had a heck of an MLS career, scoring 117 goals across 234 career appearances for a conversion rate of a goal every other game. Excellent.
