K1, SRC odds in Japan MMA

The last chance for MMA action in 2010 takes place in Japan this week and there’s lots of interesting fights to pick from.

While heavy favorites like Megumi Fujii will have crazy MMA odds of -2500 at Sportsbook, matches like Kazunori Yokota vs. Jadamba Narantungalag offer near even numbers.

On Dec 30th the SRC Soul of Fight promotion will display 28 fights with some of the best MMA artists outside of the UFC.

Kazunori Yokota will be the smallest of MMA underdogs at Sportsbook with MMA odds of -110 while Jadamba Narantungalag comes in as the small -120 favorite. This is a classic match-up between one fighter on the way down (Yokota) against one on the way up (Narantungalag).

As small as it may be, Narantungalag with the upset is the way to go in this one.

If you’re looking for some safe money that’s not too pricey on the Soul of Fight card go with Ryo Chonan beating Taisuke Okuno. Chonan will cost -245 at Sportsbook but he should have little trouble with the limited striking skills of Okuno, who should pay more than the  MMA odds of +185 that Sportsbook is offering.

The other promotion is the K1 Power of Courage event that will include Strikeforce Heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem in a kickboxing match against newly released former UFC prospect Todd Duffee.

Overeem will be as much as a -600 favorite at Sportsbook (which continues its $25 free bowl bet promotion for MMA fans who also love college football), mainly due to his experience in K1 action. Duffee will go into the fight as a +400 underdog, but when you consider the power that he yields the upset pick just might be the way to go.

Duffee may be able to bring a heavy pace early on, and if he connects with Overeem’s chin it would make for a great pay day.

If you’re more comfortable with a coin flip you can pick either Caol Uno or Kazuyuki Miyata. They will both enter their fight at -115 at Sportsbook, and when the fight is over it will most likely be up to the judges to decide the Sportsbook.
