MLB Player Prop Picks Today: Yelich Is MLB's Best Contact Bat

I'm targeting NL stars for my MLB player prop picks today. I'm pretty excited about both of these matchups, with MLB player props on the NL's batting average leader in Christian Yelich and the most dynamic young pitcher in baseball, Paul Skenes.

Here are my two MLB player prop picks today with breakdowns:

MLB Prop Pick Today: Christian Yelich Over 1.5 Hits (+185)

Brewers vs Cubs Odds - Game Time: 8:06 pm ET

Christian Yelich isn't insanely hot these days, with just eight hits in his last 10 games. But, he's still having one hell of a season.

By batting average, Yelich currently leads the National League with a .316 mark, which would be his highest average since finishing second in MVP voting in 2019. The Milwaukee outfielder has a multi-hit game in 25 of his 72 starts this year and he's done it five times in 14 this July.

Crucially, here, I love the Yelich matchup against Cubs starter Jameson Taillon, too. In 29 career at-bats against Taillon, Yelich has a .345 average and .953 career OPS.

I'd also consider betting the Brewers at -106 on the moneyline tonight, as Milwaukee is 19-6 when Yelich has a multi-hit game this season.

MLB Prop Pick Today: Paul Skenes Over 7.5 Ks (+102)

Pirates vs Cardinals Odds - Game Time: 6:41 pm ET

The books are still unwilling to admit how good Paul Skenes is. This guy is the best pitcher in baseball. He's gone over 7.5 Ks in his last four starts and seven of his last eight. Just three times in Skenes' MLB career (11 starts) has he gone under this 7.5 K line.

It's not like the Cardinals are some strikeout-proof opponent, either. They've got a 22.4% team strikeout rate (which ranks 16th-highest in MLB, so about average). They also have a 26.1% strikeout rate in the last three games, well above average.

The last time Skenes faced the Cardinals, he earned eight strikeouts.

I'm already backing the Pirates as part of my same-game parlay today, so why not hop on the Skenes strikeout line, too?
