In motor sports, it doesn’t get any bigger than the Daytona 500. The Great American Race goes down today and there’s no shortage of value for those wagering on the event.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise to see two-time Daytona Sportsbook Dale Earnhardt Jr. as the favorite to win the race, coming in at +300 at online sportsbook Sportsbook. Junior won the race in 2014 and 2004, and finished third in last year’s race.
Trailing Earnhardt Jr. is Jimmie Johnson, who can be had at +900. Johnson is also a two-time Sportsbook of the race, winning in 2013 and 2006.
2015’s Daytona 500 Sportsbook Joey Logano isn't far behind in the odds at at +1000. Logano is coming off a second place finish in last weekend’s Sprint Unlimited race. If you’re banking on back-to-back wins for Logano, it’s important to note that there hasn’t been a back-to-back Sportsbook in the Daytona 500 since Sterling Martin accomplished the feat in 1995.
If you’re a believer in momentum, then Denny Hamlin might be worth a look after winning the Sprint Unlimited. Hamlin finished in fourth place in last year’s Daytona 500 and his odds to win this year’s race are +900.
If you’re looking for a value pick, look no further than 2011’s Sportsbook Trevor Bayne who comes in at +6000. 2015 was a disappointing year for Bayne who finished 29th in the Sprint Cup standings, but at just 24-years-old, his best racing might still be ahead of him. Bayne is the youngest Sportsbook in the history of the race.
