Atlanta News & Notes

Seven different Hawks scored at least 11 points in Atlanta’s 118-111 win at home over the Washington Wizards on Monday night. Trae Young went just 7-for-16 from the field but made 11 free throws to fuel a 26-point night. John Collins had 12 points, nine rebounds and six assists in the win but is listed as questionable against the Nets with a strained foot.

With their win and cover over the Wizards as 5.5-point favorites, the Hawks improved to 3-0 SU and ATS at home in 2021-22. This is in sharp contrast to the team’s road record of 1-3 SU and 0-4 ATS thus far. Atlanta went 25-11 SU at home and 16-20 SU on the road last season, so these home-road splits aren’t anything new for this group.

Brooklyn News & Notes

Kevin Durant scored 23 points in just 27 minutes of play and James Harden recorded a triple-double with 18 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds in Brooklyn’s 117-91 win over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night.

The Nets also received some big games off the bench with LaMarcus Aldridge chipping in 16 points and DeAndre’ Bembry adding 15 points and seven rebounds. Aldridge also scored 21 points in Brooklyn’s 105-98 win over the Indiana Pacers on Friday.

Brooklyn is now 3-1 SU and 2-2 ATS over its last four games since starting the season off 1-2 SU and ATS. With no end in sight to Kyrie Irving’s unwillingness to get the COVID-19 vaccination, the Nets must continue to try to jell without him.

How Atlanta Will Cover

The Hawks have done an excellent job of spreading their offense around, taking the pressure off Trae Young to be on his A-game every night. With that said, facing a Nets team with two superstars in Kevin Durant and James Harden, Young will likely need to have a strong performance to help lead his team to a cover on Wednesday.

How Brooklyn Will Cover

Durant and Harden are going to produce. The key to victory for the Nets is how well the rest of the team plays. Whether it’s LaMarcus Aldridge stepping up again or someone else, secondary scoring will be required to push the Nets to a win and cover over this solid Hawks squad.
