Philadelphia Hopes to Avoid Upset in Game 7 vs. Atlanta
The road team is 4-2 SU and ATS through the first four games in this second round series between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Atlanta Hawks. The 76ers are hoping to buck this trend and pick up just their second home win of the series this Sunday night when they face Atlanta in Game 7.
Sportsbook Odds Analysis
The 76ers opened as 6.5-point favorites in this matchup and the line has moved slightly in their favor up to Philadelphia -7. The total has settled in at 216.5 points since Sportsbook at 217.5 points for Sunday’s series-deciding game. The Hawks are 9-4 ATS over their last 13 games.
Atlanta News & Notes
Trae Young scored 34 points and recorded 12 assists and five rebounds Friday night, but the Hawks were unable to close out the series in Atlanta as the 76ers pulled out a 104-99 win. Young has been fantastic in this series averaging 30.3 points and 11 assists per game.
The 22-year-old took a postseason-high 30 shots from the field in Game 6 and will likely be asked to put in another heavy workload in Sunday’s Game 7 with Bogdan Bogdanovic currently listed as questionable for the game with a knee injury.
Atlanta entered the postseason with an 0-5 SU and ATS record in its previos five road games and a lackluster 16-20 SU and 16-19-1 ATS road record on the season. The Hawks have stepped up their road play in the postseason however with a 4-2 SU road record including a closeout win over the New York Knicks on the road in Game 5.
Philadelphia News & Notes
Joel Embiid is clearly not at 100% as he continues to play through a torn meniscus in his knee. The big man has still managed to be a factor however as he scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in Philadelphia’s Game 6 win. Tobias Harris and Seth Curry each scored 24 points in the victory as well to help carry the 76ers to a win on a night that Ben Simmons scored only six points.
The 76ers and head coach Doc Rivers both have a reputation for disappointing postseason collapses. Philadelphia earned the top seed in the Eastern Conference with a 49-23 SU and 38-30-4 ATS this season, but the season will only be graded as a success if it ends in a championship. This is an important game for a coach and a franchise looking to flip the script on their reputations.
