Drama and Underachieving Highlight Celtics-Warriors Matchup

Two of the most overanalyzed teams in the NBA will look to calm the naysayers when they take the court tonight and even though it’s a regular-season game, the fan bases and talking heads could be out for blood if their team loses. The Golden State Warriors’ invincibility may be wearing off as they’ve dropped four of their last seven games, while the Boston Celtics might be the most disappointing team in the NBA and have lost seven of their last 10.

The Warriors opened as 9-point favorites (since moved to -8.5) with a total of 229.5.

STANDOUT STATS

  • In the Warriors’ last 20 home games as a favorite, they’re 14-6 SU and 4-15-1 ATS. They were favored by double digits in 10 of those games and have only won four of their last 20 home games by 10 points or more.
  • The Celtics are 4-7 ATS in their last 11 games, including outright losses to the Lakers, Clippers and Bulls. In that span, the Celtics rank 28th in points per game (107.6) while ranking 25th in three-point percentage (33.3 percent).
  • The Celtics have covered the spread in their last five games at Oracle Arena, including two outright wins in 2016 and 2017.
  • In five home games this season after returning from a road trip of three games or more, the Warriors are 1-4 ATS with outright losses in three of those games.
  • The total has gone UNDER in eight of the Celtics’ last nine games on the road (avg. combined score: 213.22).
  • The Celtics are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games on the road vs teams with winning records.

My Best Bet for Celtics-Warriors

Celtics +9

This may have been one of the toughest bets I’ve had to make this season because both teams are trending heavily in the wrong direction. The Celtics look so disinterested in basketball lately and the Warriors will be without Klay Thompson tonight.

Typically, I lean to the points because the Celtics still have a lot of talent and they’ve covered the spread in their last five games as an underdog of 8 points or more and in their last five games at Oracle Arena. But I’ve been burned so bad lately by the Celtics that I almost threw up in my mouth when I locked in the bet. Fade me if you need to because the Celtics are my NBA kryptonite.
