Streaking Celtics Look To Continue ATS Dominance In The Bay Area
The Celtics are the hottest team in the NBA. They’re facing a Warriors team that is among the league’s worst teams, and they’ve recently had great ATS success playing in the Bay Area. The spread is only single digits – is there any other play than Boston on Friday night?
Sportsbook Odds Analysis
The Celtics may be on the road, but they have a league-best 9-1 SU record, a strong ATS record, recent ATS success at Golden State and the Warriors are quite bad. Add it all up and it’s Boston being an 8-point favorite on the road. The total opened at 224.5, which seems a little low considering both offenses are in the top half of the league, while the Warriors defense in among the league’s worst.
Boston News & Notes
The Celtics looked ugly in their season-Sportsbook loss, but they’ve been flawless ever since, extending their winning streak to nine games with a 140-133 victory over the Wizards on Wednesday night.
Despite losing Gordon Hayward – who finally looked like the old Gordon Hayward – to a hand injury, the offense is still humming along thanks to Kemba Walker, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
The trio has averaged a combined 64.9 points per game this season, but the Celtics also have depth scoring in veterans Marcus Smart and Enes Kanter, plus sparkplug rookie Carsen Edwards, who dropped 18 points in 20 minutes Wednesday.
Boston has topped 100 points in each of its nine victories and seems poised to blow past that threshold again Friday against a Golden State team allowing the third-most points per game in the NBA.
Golden State News & Notes
The good news for the Warriors is that they’re about as healthy as they can get this season, with D’Angelo Russell and Draymond Green both back in the lineup. The bad news is that still hasn’t helped them win any games, as they got crushed 120-94 by the Lakers on Wednesday, dropping them to 2-10 on the season.
Russell has been stellar for Golden State, averaging 25.7 points and 6.7 assists per game, while rookie Eric Paschall has been a pleasant surprise too, but there just isn’t enough talent left on this team to avoid anything but a finish in the lottery.
The Warriors are last in the NBA in point differential, allow 121.1 points per game and are mired in a five-game losing streak. There isn’t much of a scenario where Golden State turns it around, especially going against a 9-1 Boston team.
Betting Pick: Celtics -8
A single-digit spread seems a little too low for the league’s best team going against the league’s worst team, doesn’t it?
