Celtics Missed Chance To Force Overtime In Game 3
The Celtics had their chance to tie the game late but ultimately fell 103-101 to the Bucks on Saturday in dramatic fashion. With the score at 103-100 and 4.6 seconds on the clock, Marcus Smart went to the free-throw line to take two shots. Smart made the first and intentionally missed the second to give the Celtics a chance to tie on the rebound. After three or four putback attempts, Al Horford eventually got one to drop, but it came just after the buzzer sounded, giving Milwaukee the win.
Jaylen Brown led Boston with 27 points and 12 rebounds while Horford also came up big with 22 points and 16 boards. Jayson Tatum, the team’s leading scorer these playoffs, had just 10 points.
Antetokounmpo Double-Double Leads Bucks To Game 3 Triumph
Giannis Antetokounmpo had a big bounce-back performance for the Bucks in Game 3, leading all scorers with 42 points while adding 12 boards for a double-double. Jrue Holiday was also clutch for Milwaukee, dropping 25 points, including what turned out to be the game-winning shot with 11 seconds on the clock.
After shooting just 38.5 percent and averaging 26.5 points through the first two games of the series, Antetokounmpo went 16-for-30 (53 percent) from the field in Game 3 to get his team a crucial win. The 42-point performance was Antetokounmpo’s highest total of the postseason as well as his first game of 40-plus points since March 31.
Celtics vs Bucks Pick & Insights
Celtics: Keys To Cover
Boston played hard and rallied back from a late deficit but ultimately didn’t get enough from its top scorers. Tatum is averaging 25.4 points in these playoffs but scored just 10, while Smart, who is averaging 14.2 points, had just nine. Both will need to be much better if the Celtics are going to even up the series.
Bucks: Keys To Cover
The Bucks followed their recipe for success in Game 3: a big showing from Antetokounmpo plus just enough support from secondary scorers like Holiday and Brook Lopez. If Antetokounmpo can get close to repeating Saturday’s performance, Milwaukee will be in great shape on Monday.
