Can the Rejuvenated Celtics Take Down the High-Flying Kings?

The Boston Celtics might be the most polarizing team in NBA betting circles. They were on the verge of a dramatic collapse and then went into Golden State last night and punched the best team in the mouth. Now, they won’t have much time to celebrate as they head upstate to face the Sacramento Kings tonight. The Kings continue to surprise as they own the best home spread record in the league and have gone 14-7-1 ATS in 22 games as a home underdog this season.

Celtics vs Kings Game Center

STANDOUT STATS

  • The Kings are 14-7-1 ATS in 22 games as a home underdog this season. They have won outright in 10 of those games.
  • The Celtics are 3-7 ATS in 10 games on the second game of a back-to-back. When those games were on the road, the Celtics went 2-5 ATS in seven games.
  • The Celtics are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games on the road vs teams with winning records.
  • The total has gone UNDER in nine of the Celtics’ last 10 games on the road (avg. combined score: 214.2).
  • Marvin Bagley III has been a huge part of Sacramento’s success this season. In 17 games he has missed, the Kings are 5-12 SU and 7-10 ATS, including 1-8 ATS in their last nine games with the forward on the sideline.
  • In the last 15 games, the Kings are allowing opponents to score 114.4 points per game (ranked 20th), including 113.9 points per game in nine home contests (22nd). Surprisingly, the Kings are 9-6 SU in those contests.

My Best Bet for Celtics-Kings

Kings Moneyline

Full disclaimer: My track record for betting on the Boston Celtics this season is awful. I can’t figure them out because on paper, they should destroy most teams but their egos get in the way and it spills out onto the court.

That being said, the Kings are frisky and although their defense gives me pause, they have given the tough teams a good go every time they come to the Golden 1 Center. The spread is so low that it’s negligible so I have no problem taking the Kings moneyline in this spot. Although the Celtics knocked around the Warriors last night, it still doesn’t erase the drama and poor play that was going on coming into that game. A good home dog facing a team that is on the second game of a back-to-back and has been poor for most of the season in road games. What’s not to love about the Kings tonight?
