Durant Scores 37 As Nets Stun Jazz
The Nets shocked Utah on Monday, beating the Jazz 114-106 at home without Kyrie Irving. Kevin Durant scored 37 points for the Nets while adding nine rebounds and eight assists and Bruce Brown Jr. also came up big with 22 points in the win.
Brooklyn has turned it up over the last few weeks, led by monster performances from Durant and Irving. The Nets are still playing without Irving at home due to eligibility issues, but they’ve managed a 3-1 record over their last four contests at Barclays Center without their star point guard.
Irving dropped a whopping 60 points in his last appearance – a 150-108 win over the Orlando Magic on March 15 – so they’ll be ecstatic to get him back into the lineup on Wednesday.
Goran Dragic (illness) is probable and Seth Curry (ankle) is questionable.
Grizzlies Continue To Find Success Without Morant
The Grizzlies picked up a comfortable win in their last outing even without Morant, defeating the Houston Rockets 122-98 on Sunday. Desmond Bane led the team with 24 points and five others finished in double digits for Memphis.
It’s hard to believe but the Grizzlies have somehow been even better without Morant this season, posting a record of 14-2 in the games he’s missed. That success has been powered by some exceptional defensive efforts as Memphis has allowed just 98.6 points in those contests – down more than 10 points from their season average.
Along with Morant (knee), Killian Tillie (knee) is out for Wednesday’s matchup.
Nets vs Grizzlies Pick & Insights
Nets: Keys To Cover
It kind of feels like the Nets are adding a trade deadline pickup every time they play on the road with Irving making his way back into the lineup. With Irving and Durant playing some excellent basketball of late, Brooklyn should be poised for another offensive explosion. The club is averaging 124.8 points per game over its last seven outings and there’s no reason for the Nets to slow down now.
Grizzlies: Keys To Cover
While the Grizzlies will miss Morant, they’ve demonstrated time and time again that they’re more than fine without their starting point guard. Memphis boasts impressive depth with five players averaging 10-plus points per game, while bench players like Ziaire Williams and De’Anthony Melton are also capable of producing in limited minutes.
