Nets Look To Ramp Up Ahead Of Play-In Tournament
The Nets snapped a two-game skid on Tuesday with a 118-105 victory over the lowly Houston Rockets. Kyrie Irving went off for 42 points to lead all scorers while Kevin Durant had a quiet night with just 18 points.
Brooklyn is locked in as a play-in team given that they can’t catch the sixth-place Chicago Bulls, who are five games ahead, and they can’t lose their spot to the Knicks, who are 5.5 games back. With just three contests remaining on their regular-season schedule, the Nets will want to ramp things up and build some confidence heading into some do-or-die games.
Seth Curry (ankle) and James Johnson (illness) are questionable while Goran Dragic (health and safety protocols) is out.
Knicks Looking To Play Spoiler Against Nets
The Knicks routed the Orlando Magic 118-88 in their last time out Sunday. RJ Barrett scored 27 to lead New York while Immanuel Quickley had 20 points, 10 assists and 10 boards to record a triple-double.
New York doesn’t have much left to play for as they’re out of contention for the play-in tournament, but they will want to play spoiler against the rival Nets. The Knicks, who have lost all three meetings this season, can avoid being swept by the Nets in the season series while potentially spoiling their bid for home-court advantage in the play-ins.
Nerlens Noel (foot) is out while Quentin Grimes (knee) and Miles McBride (knee) are questionable for Wednesday.
Nets vs Knicks Pick & Insights
Nets: Keys To Cover
Brooklyn’s offense has been hot over its last four games, averaging 120.5 points per contest. Durant and Irving have been excellent over that span, averaging 35 and 30.5 points, respectively. If the duo can combine for 60-plus again, the Nets should sweep the Battle of New York.
Knicks: Keys To Cover
While New York has struggled in the win-loss column against Brooklyn, the Knicks will hang their hat on the fact that the games have been extremely close, with the Nets outscoring the Knicks by an average score of just 107.5-107 over the last 10 meetings. If they can limit at least one of Irving or Durant, the Knicks will stand a chance.
