Brooklyn Eyes Fifth Straight Road Win vs Wizards

The Brooklyn Nets are just 1-4 SU and ATS in their last five games against the Washington Wizards. The Nets will have a great chance to improve on that record as big favorites with their revamped roster this Sunday night in Washington.

Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The Nets opened as 9-point favorites but have been bet down slightly to -8 as action has since come in on the Wizards as big home underdogs. Early bettors also leaned towards the OVER on the Sportsbook total of 243.5 to push the line up to 244.5.

Brooklyn News & Notes

James Harden and Kyrie Irving combined for 50 points in Brooklyn’s 147-125 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night. Harden finished the game with a triple-double, adding 11 assists and 10 rebounds to his 25-point performance as the Nets rolled to an easy win even with Kevin Durant taking the night off. Since Harden’s arrival, the Nets are averaging a whopping 125 points per game.

On the other side of the coin, the Nets have allowed 121.5 points over that stretch which has contributed to a 3-5 ATS record to go along with the 6-2 SU record in eight games since acquiring James Harden. Brooklyn will obviously be comfortable in shooting it out with anyone considering it has three of the top scorers in the league, but improved play in the defensive end could become a necessity in the playoffs when games tend to get a lot tighter.

Washington News & Notes

After setting new career-highs of 25.6 points per game in 2018-19 and then 30.5 points per game in 2019-20, Bradley Beal has taken another big step forward this season averaging 34.7 points per game in 14 games played. Unfortunately for Beal, and the Wizards, this hasn’t translated to wins on the court as Washington is just 3-12 SU and 6-9 ATS through its first 15 games.

The Wizards enter Sunday’s game with an 0-4 SU and ATS record over their last four games, losing by an average margin of 18.3 points per game. Washington was actually playing well with a 3-3 SU and 5-1 ATS record over its previous six games prior to this recent skid. Hosting the high-powered Nets probably isn’t the optimal situation to get back on track.

Betting Pick: Brooklyn -8

Washington is allowing 117 points per game over its current four-game slump. Brooklyn’s offense should torch the Wizards in this one and eventually pull away for the cover as big favorites.
