Short-Handed Nets Blown Out By Celtics
A decimated Nets team lost its ninth straight game on Tuesday, falling 126-91 to the Boston Celtics. Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart had 22 points each to lead Boston while Jevon Carter topped Brooklyn in scoring with 21 points.
The Nets were without their three stars as Durant and Harden were both sidelined with an injury while Kyrie Irving missed the game due to New York’s vaccine mandate. Brooklyn was again hyped as a potential super-team in the offseason but things are quickly falling apart as Irving has suited up in just 12 games this year while Durant has once again struggled with injuries.
Durant (knee), Harden (hamstring) and LaMarcus Aldridge (ankle) are out while Nic Claxton (hamstring) is questionable.
Wizards Lose Again With Beal Likely Out For The Season
The Wizards lost 121-100 to the Miami Heat on Monday for their second consecutive defeat. Bam Adebayo led Miami with 21 points while Corey Kispert was Washington’s top scorer with 20 points.
Washington has been in a rut for a while now but things got even worse in late January when leading scorer Bradley Beal left the lineup with a wrist injury. The Wizards are 1-3 in his absence and Beal is now expected to undergo season-ending surgery, which should all but end Washington’s playoff hopes.
Daniel Galford (health and safety protocols) is questionable for Thursday’s matchup.
Nets vs Wizards Pick & Insights
Nets: Keys To Cover
Brooklyn undoubtedly owns the edge in star power in this matchup with Irving, which may factor into your Nets vs Wizards prediction, but he won’t be able to do all the scoring on his own. Patty Mills hasn’t been great lately, averaging just 10.6 points per game over his last five outings, but the Nets will likely need a strong performance from him if they’re going to get the win.
Wizards: Keys To Cover
With Beal out, every game is going to have to be a team effort for the Wizards. The team does have some decent weapons in Kyle Kuzma (16.1 points per game, Montrezl Harrell (14.1 ppg) and Spencer Dinwiddie (12.6 ppg) but they’ll all need to be a bit better in the absence of their leading scorer.
