Struggling Bulls Have been At Their Worst in January
Chicago doesn’t have a win since the ball dropped in Times Square as the Bulls bring a 0-7 SU and 2-4-1 ATS January record to the Mile High City tonight to play the Nuggets. Denver, meanwhile, is 6-3 SU and 4-5 ATS since New Year’s Day and won the only other game between these teams 108-107 in Chicago on Halloween night. The Nuggets are 13.5-point favorites with the total at 213.5.
Possessions Could Be At a Premium Tonight
A couple of the NBA’s lowest-rated teams in terms of pace will hook up in this game. Denver is No. 27 at 98.1 possessions per game with Chicago at No. 23 at 99.1. This month, Denver is No. 28 and Chicago No. 24.
The Bulls enter this game with the No. 30 scoring offense in the league and will be in tough with the No. 6 scoring defense on the other side of the court. Denver’s defense allows just 106.4 points per game overall and 104 points per game on home court.
Chicago is Having its Worst Month of a Horrible Season
The end of the season can’t come soon enough for the Chicago Bulls, who have picked up just 10 wins this season and are on a seven-game slide entering tonight’s game in Colorado.
The Bulls are averaging just 100.9 points per game on the season and have surrendered 119.3 points per game in January.
To make matters worse, Chicago will be without its leading rebounder, Wendell Carter Jr., who injured his thumb against the Lakers on Tuesday.
My Best Bet for Tonight
Based on the pace of play stats in combination with the Chicago offense vs the Denver defense, I’m taking UNDER 99.5 points scored by the Chicago Bulls in this game. The Bulls are averaging 100 points per game for the season and when weighing that against a top defensive team, the Bulls without their top rebounder and being on a 0-7 run, I like them to be below average tonight.
