Chicago Desperate To Snap Out Of Funk But Still Battling Injuries
The Bulls are reeling, falling to 2-7 SU and 1-8 ATS in their last nine games with Wednesday’s 125-110 blowout loss in Utah.
“The reality of it is looking in our face. It’s about how we have to respond to it,” coach Billy Donovan told the Chicago Tribune about the Bulls’ slip to fifth in the Eastern standings. “Our guys are playing hard … but I’m hoping we learn some lessons sooner or later.”
Injuries have also played a role in Chicago’s recent slide, and the injury bug is still biting them even after the return of Zach LaVine and Alex Caruso to the lineup. Although LaVine scored 33 points Wednesday against the Jazz, he was favoring his left knee and came out of the game midway through the fourth quarter. Caruso also left the game early cradling the wrist that he recently had surgery on.
Absence Of Paul And Other Key Players Hasn’t Slowed Down League-Leading Suns
Phoenix continues to win games — and cover point spreads — with Chris Paul, Cameron Johnson and other key contributors out of the lineup. Jae Crowder became the latest starter to miss action on Wednesday, sitting out the Suns’ 129-112 win in Houston with a groin injury.
Torrey Craig stepped into Crowder’s place in the lineup to score 21 points in his first start of the season, while Devin Booker led the way with 36 and Deandre Ayton added 23 points and 11 rebounds. Craig could get the start again tonight with Crowder still listed as questionable at the time of writing.
The Suns have won three straight, five of six and seven of nine to maintain their lead atop the NBA standings without Paul, who may be sidelined for the rest of the season with a thumb injury. Phoenix has also covered four of its last five overall, although the Suns are just 2-6 ATS in their last eight at home.
Bulls vs Suns Pick & Insights
Bulls: Keys To Cover
It’ll be harder for Chicago to keep things close without LaVine or Caruso, so be sure to check on their status before making your Bulls vs Suns prediction. The Bulls bench also needs to pick up its collective game after getting outscored 49-22 by Utah’s backups on Wednesday.
Suns: Keys To Cover
Phoenix’s offense has been on fire, scoring at least 129 points in each of its last three games and going OVER in four straight. That could allow the Suns to pull away from a Bulls team that is a dismal 2-16 SU against opponents who have better records this season.
