NBA Finals: Game 1 Betting Preview
If you’re looking for storylines, the 2016 NBA Finals features an abundance of them. A rematch of last year’s championship series, the Golden State Warriors will be looking to hoist their second Larry O’Brien Trophy in as many years, while the Cavaliers have the intention of bringing the city of Cleveland its first title since 1964.
These two teams were on a collision course all season long to once again meet in the Finals, but it wasn’t as easy for either of them to get there. Cleveland experienced a ton of off-court drama, which led to the firing of head coach David Blatt and introduction of Tyronn Lue. Golden State trailed the OKC Thunder 3-1 in the West finals before mounting a comeback for the ages and rattling off three-straight wins in impressive fashion.
Things will look much different this time around. The Cavs, who were missing Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love during last year’s Finals, were forced to rely heavily on LeBron and the King delivered. James averaged 35.8 points, 13.3 rebounds and 8.8 assists in his team’s six-game loss. Cleveland is operating at full capacity this year, and the Warriors will have to properly prepare for it.
The Cavs haven’t been the most reliable bet when facing the Warriors as of late. In the last five meetings between the powerhouses, Cleveland is 1-4 ATS.
