The Warriors Are On An Awful ATS Run

When teams are in the midst of a historic championship run like the Golden State Warriors, there’s bound to be hiccups and right now, the Dubs are in the thick of it. The Warriors have dropped five of their last eight games and will face a team they’ve had trouble with over the years in the Denver Nuggets. The stronghold of Oracle Arena may not be as formidable as the Warriors are 3-16-1 ATS in their last 20 home games as a favorite and haven’t covered the spread vs the Nuggets at home in their last six tries.

The Warriors opened as 6.5-point favorites with a total of 233.

STANDOUT STATS

  • In the Warriors’ last 20 home games as a favorite, they’re 13-7 SU and 3-16-1 ATS.
  • The Nuggets may be an excellent spread bet at home but have been awful on the road at 13-18 ATS and have failed to cover the spread in 12 of their last 19 away games.
  • The Nuggets are allowing 109 points per game at home and on the road but it’s their offense that takes a hit away from Denver. They average 116 points in home games but only 107.9 points in road games this season.
  • In the last 15 games, the Warriors defense is giving up 113.5 points per game (ranked 19th) while having a negative rebound margin.
  • The Nuggets are 3-7 SU and 4-6 ATS in their last 10 games as a road underdog and 6-13 ATS in their last 19 road games.
  • The total has gone UNDER in the Nuggets’ last seven games (avg. combined score: 219.71).

My Best Bet for Nuggets vs Warriors

Warriors -6.5

Going against the stats and trends for this one because I think the Warriors will come out like gangbusters after their poor performance against the Celtics in their last home outing. Golden State was without Klay Thompson and Kevon Looney in that game and Andre Iguodala was banged up and it showed when they couldn’t crack 100 points.

I think that flips today because the Warriors know how to beat this team and Klay’s presence is so important because of how he spaces the floor to let Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry work their magic. It’s not often I recommend taking the Warriors to cover the spread because usually the line is so inflated that it makes it undesirable, but at -6.5, that’s in the sweet spot. This line may move to -6 throughout the day so pick your spot if you want to back the Dubs.
