Dubs haven’t been a reliable spread pick at home
The Golden State Warriors are back to business as usual after returning home from a successful three-game road trip. The Dubs finished 3-0 SU and now will play host to the Denver Nuggets and look for payback against a team that gave them one of their eight losses in the first half of the season. The Warriors can get back to the top of the NBA standings with a victory and opened as 9.5-point favorites.
Although the Warriors have a great home record, bettors may be finding it hard to find value wagering on them. Golden State is 9-11 ATS in 20 home games this season and 2-7-1 ATS in its last 10 games vs Denver. One of the main factors has been point differential. The Warriors rank first in the NBA at 9.8 points but in the past two seasons, that number topped 11. Although it may be a slight regression, every point is valuable when it comes to the Warriors’ spread bets as they’re routinely favored by double-digit points and have yet to be an underdog this season.
Another factor has been an ongoing shuffle of starting lineups with injuries mounting. Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green have all been on the shelf for injuries and expecting this team to blitzkrieg the opposition every game may not be the best course of action.
The Nuggets, on the other hand, have had their own share of injury woes with offseason acquisition Paul Millsap still out from wrist surgery and Nikola Jokic having to miss seven games in December due to a turned ankle. Since Jokic’s return, results have been mixed at 6-5 SU and expecting the Nuggets to get another victory vs the Warriors could prove difficult as they’re 1-5 SU in their last six trips to Oracle Arena. However, for spread bettors, Denver has been profitable as it’s 5-1 ATS in those games.
For totals bettors, expect fireworks in this matchup. The OVER has hit 10 of the last 11 games in this matchup and both of these teams rank in the top 10 in scoring and both are middle of the pack in points allowed. Translation: TAKE THE OVER.
