Warriors Lose Again As Pistons Snap Five-Game Skid
Golden State suffered its second straight defeat on Sunday, falling 128-114 to the lowly Detroit Pistons, who snapped a five-game losing streak. Steph Curry (32 points) and Jordan Poole (30 points) scored 30-plus each but only one other player finished in double digits for the Warriors. Meanwhile, the Pistons had four players score 20-plus, with Saddiq Bey (28 points) leading the way.
Defense continues to be the downfall of the defending NBA champions as the Warriors are surrendering 122 points per game – just behind the Brooklyn Nets (122.2 points against per game) for the worst mark in the league. Given that Golden State finished with the fourth-best defense in the NBA last season, you’ve got to think they’ll find a way to turn it around sooner or later.
Herro Scores 34 In Miami’s Loss To Sacramento
The Heat also dropped their second straight game on Saturday as they fell 119-113 to the Sacramento Kings. Tyler Herro went off for 34 points to lead all scorers but a strong first half from Sacramento was too much for Miami to overcome as the Kings took a 71-49 lead into the break and never looked back.
Herro had a good start to the season with 21 points per game through his first four contests but had fallen off a bit prior to Saturday’s performance, averaging just 10.5 points over his previous two contests. The Heat have struggled offensively so far, averaging 108 points per game (26th), so a lot of pressure will fall on Herro to pick up his scoring pace again.
Warriors Player Prop: Curry OVER 4.5 Threes (+110)
Curry is averaging 4.9 three-pointers per game and has hit at least five treys in three of his last five outings. With Golden State hoping to avoid its third straight defeat, look for the Dubs star to come out motivated in Tuesday’s matchup.
Heat Player Prop: Herro OVER 22 Points (+112)
Herro’s scoring rate has slipped a bit, falling to 19.9 points per game this season, but the point guard has scored at least 22 points in four of seven contests. Given how poor the Golden State defense has been this year, it seems likely that Herro will hit the OVER on 22 points.
Warriors: Keys To Win
The Warriors obviously have plenty of offensive options so it’s not like they can’t outscore their problems, but things would be a lot easier if they could play some defense too. Coming up against a weaker offensive team in Miami, look for Golden State to hone in defensively on Tuesday.
Heat: Keys To Win
Miami has been solid on the defensive side this season, allowing 110.6 points per game – just outside the top 10. The Heat were elite in their half last season, finishing with the second-best defense in 2021-22. They’ll likely need to find that elite defensive game once again if they’re going to hang with the Warriors.
