Curry, Thompson Help Warriors Defeat Celtics
The Warriors came out on top in their last game, a 123-107 win over the Boston Celtics in a rematch of last year’s NBA Finals. Klay Thompson (34 points) and Steph Curry (32 points) were dominant while Jordan Poole also had 20 points for the Dubs. Jaylen Brown scored 31 to lead the Celtics in a losing effort.
While the defending champions have had a very slow start to the season by their lofty standards, we saw a flash of their star power in Saturday’s win over the Celtics. When Curry, Thompson and Poole are all producing, the Warriors are still one of the most dangerous teams in the NBA. If Thompson, who’s up to 27.5 points per game in December, can find his next gear on a consistent basis, Golden State should start picking up more wins.
Giannis Has Off-Night In Loss To Rockets
The Bucks had their four-game win streak snapped Sunday as they fell 97-92 to the Houston Rockets. Jrue Holiday had 25 points to lead Milwaukee as Giannis Antetokounmpo had an off-night with just 16 points, though he added 18 rebounds for the double-double. Jalen Green topped Houston with 30 points in the victory.
It was a rare low-scoring effort for Antetokounmpo, who recorded less than 25 points for the first time since November 16 when he had 16 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers. In fact, Giannis has scored less than 25 points just three times all season and had been on a tear prior to Sunday’s loss, averaging 35 points per game over his prior nine contests.
Warriors Player Prop: Thompson OVER 24 Points (+117)
Thompson has been heating up for the Dubs with 22 or more points in four straight games and 20-plus in six of seven. The shooting guard’s minutes and points per game have increased drastically each month this season, from 25 minutes and 12.3 points in October to 36 minutes and 27.5 points in December. If he keeps up his current pace, he’ll hit the OVER easily.
Bucks Player Prop: Antetokounmpo OVER 34 Points (+108)
Despite the quiet night last time out, Antetokounmpo has been on fire so we can only assume he’ll have a big bounce-back performance. The Greek Freak has scored 30-plus in six straight home contests while averaging 36 points per game over that span.
Warriors: Keys To Win
The Warriors looked more like their old selves in their win over the Celtics and they’ll need to start playing more like that if they’re going to get their season on track. Thompson (27.5 points per game), Poole (26 PPG) and Andrew Wiggins (24 PPG) have all stepped up their production in December – that’s one trend that will need to continue against Milwaukee.
Bucks: Keys To Win
The Bucks have not been great offensively outside of Antetokounmpo, ranking 17th in the NBA with just 112 points per game. That said, instead of trying to outscore the Warriors, they may want to home in defensively – look for Holiday to take on a lot of the perimeter defending duties against the dangerous Dubs.
