Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The Warriors opened as 4.5-point favorites on the road while the total was set at 211.5 points. The UNDER is 8-2 in Golden State’s last 10 contests and the OVER is 5-2 in New York’s last seven. Meanwhile, the Knicks are 1-5 ATS in their last six games while the Warriors are 1-4 ATS in their last five.

Golden State News & Notes

The Warriors got back into the win column on Monday with a 102-100 victory over the Indiana Pacers. Kevin Looney (14 points) scored the game-winning basket with 13 seconds on the clock while Steph Curry led the team with 26 points and drew within two treys of breaking Ray Allen’s record for career three-pointers.

Golden State narrowly avoided losing consecutive games for the first time this season after dropping an uncharacteristically low-scoring game to the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday when Curry scored just 18 points, his fourth-lowest total this year. Still, the two-time MVP is averaging 27.1 points per game, the third-best rate in the NBA.

Andre Iguodala (rest) is questionable and James Wiseman (knee) is out for Tuesday.

New York News & Notes

The Knicks dropped their third straight game on Sunday, falling 112-97 to the Milwaukee Bucks. Quentin Grimes dropped 27 points in 40 minutes to lead all scorers, easily setting a career high in his first NBA start. Julius Randle, the team’s leading scorer this season, dropped just eight points in the loss.

New York has had a rough month of December with just one win in its last seven games. Part of the problem has been a lagging offense, averaging just 105.8 points per game (22nd in the NBA), and part of the problem has been a growing list of names on the sideline.

Both RJ Barrett and Obi Toppin (COVID-19 protocols) missed the last game and are ruled out for Tuesday while Alec Burks (personal) should make his return.

How Golden State Will Cover

The Warriors have had a slight dip in form of late but should be able to rack up an easy win against a depleted Knicks squad. Curry, just two triples shy of eclipsing Allen’s three-point record, should be motivated to have a big game under the bright lights of Madison Square Garden.

How New York Will Cover

The Knicks will be in tough on Tuesday but if there’s one thing going for them, it’s that the Warriors haven’t looked like themselves lately. The NBA’s third-ranked offense has averaged just 99.7 points per game over the last three outings. If the Knicks can keep the Warriors around that number again, they could cover the spread.
