Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The Warriors opened as 3.5-point road favorites in this matchup and have since settled in at Golden State -1.5. The total has moved up to 215.5 points after Sportsbook at 212.5 points. The UNDER is 7-1 in Golden State’s last 8 road games.

Golden State News & Notes

Golden State rolled to another double-digit victory on Wednesday night in its 104-94 win over the Portland Trailblazers. The Warriors failed to cover the spread as 14.5-point favorites and are now 3-2 SU and 2-3 ATS over their last five games since going 14-1 SU and 13-1-1 ATS over their previous 15 games. Stephen Curry went 8-for-19 from the floor and hit six three-pointers to finish the game with 22 points.

With those six three-pointers, Curry moved to within nine three-pointers of Ray Allen’s all-time NBA record of 2,973. Allen set his record over 1,300 career games while Curry will be playing in his 787th on Saturday against the 76ers. It’s hard to imagine how high Curry will set the bar for career three-pointers considering he’s only 33 years old and still has plenty of sharp-shooting ahead.

Philadelphia News & Notes

Philadelphia had a three-game winning streak snapped on Thursday night in a 118-96 blowout loss to the Utah Jazz. Joel Embiid led the team in scoring with just 19 points and also added nine rebounds in the loss. Embiid suffered an abdominal injury in the second half against the Jazz but was able to return to the court to finish the game. He is listed as questionable to play on Saturday.

Adrian Wojnarowski has reported that the 76ers have been making a big push this week in their efforts to try to trade Ben Simmons. Simmons still hasn’t played in a game for Philadelphia this season and his absence and the distraction it has caused has contributed to the team’s underwhelming 14-12 SU and 12-14 ATS start. Flipping Simmons for a contributor could turn Philadelphia into a legitimate contender out East.

How Golden State Will Cover

Golden State has the second-highest scorer in the NBA in Stephen Curry averaging 27.5 points per game and the best defense in the NBA allowing only 100.3 points per game. The Warriors don’t get many small spreads like this anymore and should be able to win and cover with their A-game.

How Philadelphia Will Cover

Joel Embiid averaged 34.3 points and 11.7 rebounds per game in Philadelphia’s recent three-game win streak and likely would have contributed more against Utah if he weren’t hurt. If Embiid is able to play, he is always a threat to have a big game and to lead the 76ers to an upset.
