NBA Finals Game 4 Betting Preview: Warriors are on the Brink of History
Despite throwing everything but the kitchen sink at the Golden State Warriors in Game 3, the Cleveland Cavaliers are standing on the brink of elimination in the NBA Finals with Game 4 set for Friday at Quicken Loans Arena. Sportsbooks opened the Cavs as 6-point home underdogs with a total of 228.
LeBron James called the Warriors “the most firepower I’ve played in my career. I played against some great teams, but I don’t think any team has had this kind of firepower.” That firepower let Golden State overcome a six-point deficit in the dying minutes of Wednesday’s 118-113 win which was capped by a deep Kevin Durant 3-pointer over James with 45 seconds left.
In the wake of the win, the Dubs improved to 15-0 in the postseason and have an opportunity to become the first team ever in the NBA to go perfect in the playoffs. Durant scored 14 of his 31 points in the fourth quarter in Game 3 and is averaging 34 points on 56.1 percent shooting – 52.4 percent from downtown – in the series. Stephen Curry has also been otherworldly, as the point guard is averaging 28 points, 9.7 boards and nine assists in the series.
While Cleveland overcame a 3-1 series deficit in the Finals last spring – a seemingly impossible task against the 73 regular-season win Warriors – they’re in a hole that will most likely be too difficult to climb out of. After all, no NBA squad has ever come back from a 3-0 hole to win a playoff series.
How impressive has Golden State been in the playoffs? Their 15 straight postseason wins is the longest streak in any of the four major American professional sports. Yikes.
The total, which has gone OVER in two of the three games so far in the Finals, is worth a look tonight. In the last seven tilts between the Warriors and Cavs in Ohio, the OVER is 5-2.
