OVER is Worth a Look in Warriors-Trail Blazers Game 4
Just how good are the Golden State Warriors? With Kevin Durant banged up, the Warriors have been quite literally resting the superstar to make sure he’s healthy enough for another deep playoff run through the Western Conference. The Warriors will go for a sweep of the best-of-seven first-round series when they visit the Portland Trail Blazers for Game 4 on Monday. Sportsbooks opened the Dubs as 7-point road chalk with a total of 219.5.
The Trail Blazers were feeding off the Moda Center crowd in Game 3, possessing a 17-point lead before falling off the pace in the third quarter which culminated in a 119-113 loss. Golden State put together a 19-1 run in the third and was led by the always entertaining Stephen Curry, who finished with 34 points.
The Dubs are a wounded group right now, as Durant (calf), Shaun Livingston (finger) and Matt Barnes (foot) are hurting. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr sat out Game 3 due to chronic back pain and will not coach on Monday after consulting with team doctors. Kerr told reporters he could miss the entire postseason if his back does not improve.
Portland didn’t have center Jusuf Nurkic in the first two games due to a leg fracture but his return was noticeable in Game 3. However, he won’t be on the court once again tonight. Nurkic has been a huge addition to the Trail Blazers since coming over from Denver at the trade deadline, but the team has struggled without him on the floor.
The OVER, which has paid out in two of the three games in the series, is traditionally a solid bet when these teams get together. In the last 18 meetings between Golden State and Portland, the OVER is 14-4.
