Spurs are Historically Fantastic vs Warriors at AT&T Center
After watching LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers dismantle the Boston Celtics, the Golden State Warriors will look to keep up their own dominance and stay perfect in the postseason ahead of Saturday’s Game 3 of the Western Conference finals vs the San Antonio Spurs. Sportsbooks opened the Spurs as 6.5-point home underdogs with a total of 212.
The Spurs are looking to put a 136-100 thrashing Game 2 thrashing behind them, and their only hope of making a Herculean comeback in the series rests on the shoulders of the injured Kawhi Leonard. Leonard, who left Game 1 with an ankle injury, did not do any on-court work while reporters were at the San Antonio practice facility on Thursday. If the superstar isn’t able to go, San Antonio will need more out of LaMarcus Aldridge (eight points on 4-of-11 shooting in Game 2). As of this writing, Leonard was officially listed as questionable for the contest.
Golden State shot a sizzling 56.2 percent from the floor in Game 2 while holding the Spurs to 37 percent. The only starter struggling right now is shooting guard Klay Thompson, who’s averaging 14.6 points on 38.8 percent shooting - down from 22.3 points on 46.8 percent in the regular season.
The Warriors have been undefeated in the postseason without their head coach Steve Kerr, who’s been recovering from back surgery. However, Kerr traveled to San Antonio with the team for Games 3 and 4.
Traditionally, the Dubs haven’t been getting the job done at AT&T Center. In the Warriors’ last 30 trips to San Antonio, they’re a brutal 3-27 SU.
