Pacers’ Struggles Continue vs Knicks

The Pacers dropped their second consecutive game on Sunday as they fell 109-106 to the New York Knicks. Jalen Brunson scored 30 to lead New York while Julius Randle (25 points, 14 rebounds) and RJ Barrett (24 points) also had solid nights. Buddy Hield and Aaron Nesmith scored 23 points each in the loss for Indiana.

After a pretty solid start to the season when the Pacers went 12-8 through their first 20 games, Indiana has fallen below .500 by going 3-8 in its last 11 outings. Defense has been the main letdown for the Pacers, who are giving up 115.6 points per game – the 21st-ranked mark in the NBA.

Celtics Drop Two Straight To Magic

The Celtics dropped back-to-back games to the lowly Orlando Magic, most recently losing 95-92 on Sunday. Paolo Banchero scored 31 points for Orlando while Jaylen Brown topped Boston with 24 points and added 14 boards for the double-double. Jayson Tatum missed the game due to personal reasons but is expected to be back for Wednesday’s contest.

Boston has hit its first rough patch of the season – the Celtics had lost consecutive games just once prior to December 10 but have done so twice more since then, going 1-4 over that span. The offense has dried up a bit for the C’s, who are scoring just 100.3 points per game through their last four losses. It’s more than likely just a blip on the radar, though, as the team still ranks first in points per game (118.2).

Pacers Player Prop: Hield OVER 18 Points (+106)

Hield has stepped up for the Pacers in December, averaging nearly 19 points per game this month while leading the team in scoring in three of the last seven contests. The guard has scored 19-plus in five of his last nine outings so he has a fair chance at hitting the OVER on Wednesday.

Celtics Player Prop: Tatum OVER 31 Points (+106)

After missing Sunday’s contest, Tatum will be motivated to help the Celtics get back into the win column. The small forward is in the early-season MVP discussions, averaging 30.2 points per game, and is coming off 31- and 44-point performances in his last two outings. Look for Tatum to have a big night against a mediocre Pacers squad.

Pacers: Keys To Win

Although the Celtics have hit a bit of an offensive rut of late, they won’t stay asleep for much longer. If the Pacers are going to keep this one close, they’ll need to step it up defensively and try to limit Tatum and Brown. Otherwise, this one could get ugly.

Celtics: Keys To Win

The Celtics are scoring just 109.2 points per game in December – a nine-point drop from their season average. A lot of that can be attributed to Tatum, who is scoring about four points less per game this month. If Tatum and Brown can get back to their usual scoring ways, Boston should cruise to victory.
