Lakers Have Dropped 13 Straight in Oklahoma City
Everyone knows the Oklahoma City Thunder have an explosive offense, but they’ve been starring on defense as well of late. The Thunder will try to hold a third straight opponent to under 92 points and collect a third straight win when the Los Angeles Lakers come to town on Wednesday.
OKC is coming off a 95-88 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Monday in which Russell Westbrook was close to getting a triple-double before being ejected late in the game. The star point guard went for a layup and was hit in the face and body by a pair of Kings but was called for traveling when he came down with the ball. Like a lot of NBA teams, the Thunder are no strangers to confrontation with referees, causing Carmelo Anthony to state he was “done” with the refs after the win.
The Lakers are battling a litany of injuries right now and had a four-game winning streak come to an end in a 123-114 loss to Memphis on Monday. Small forward Brandon Ingram and point guard Lonzo Ball sat out on Monday, and their status for Wednesday’s contest was up in the air as of this writing. Ingram practised in full on Tuesday but is questionable vs the Thunder, while Ball is doubtful to play.
Los Angeles has been a terrible straight-up play when traveling to Oklahoma City lately. In the Lakers’ last 13 trips to Chesapeake Energy Arena, they’re 0-13 SU.
