Los Angeles Still Looking For Its First ATS Win In December
The Clippers lost to the Orlando Magic 116-111 as 6.5-point road favorites on Wednesday night in Orlando. Los Angeles jumped out to a 32-14 lead in the first quarter and led by seven points heading into the game’s final quarter, but Orlando came back to send the game to overtime and eventually win it. Seven Clippers scored at least 10 points, led by Terance Mann, who netted 19 off the bench.
Los Angeles played well through the first three weeks of November with a 9-3 SU and ATS run. The Clippers have cooled off since then, however, with a 3-5 SU and 2-6 ATS record over their last eight games, including a 1-3 SU and 0-4 ATS slump over their last four games.
Norman Powell (groin), Marcus Morris (illness) and Luke Kennard (calf) are all listed as questionable to play on Thursday after missing Wednesday night’s game.
Miami Has Struggled On Offense In Back-To-Back Losses
The Heat closed out November on a 4-1 SU and 3-1-1 ATS run in which they averaged 114 points per game. That solid run and production on offense both came to a halt this week as Miami lost to the Memphis Grizzlies 101-93 as a 5-point favorite on Monday night and to the Detroit Pistons 116-96 as a 7.5-point favorite on Tuesday night. Tyler Herro scored 34 points in the loss Tuesday and is averaging 27.7 points per game in December.
Jimmy Butler missed Tuesday night’s game for conditioning purposes and is questionable to return on Thursday against the Clippers. The Heat have been significantly better at home with an 8-5 SU record than they have been on the road at 3-9 SU, but that difference hasn’t shown up on the ATS side as Miami is just 3-9-1 ATS at home.
Clippers: Keys to Win
Los Angeles has been getting lit up on the defensive end during its current 0-4 ATS slump, allowing 120.3 points per game. The Clippers should be able to produce offense on Thursday night, but they’ll need to get things back on track defensively if they hope to win as a Clippers vs Heat prediction on the road.
Heat: Keys to Win
Miami has been plagued by injuries and inconsistent play all season long. With or without Jimmy Butler in the lineup on Thursday night, the Heat will need to find depth scoring behind Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo to keep up with Los Angeles and win as a Clippers vs Heat pick.
