Los Angeles Has Cooled Off Since Recent Surge

The Lakers suffered their second straight loss Wednesday night as the Toronto Raptors rolled to a 126-113 win and cover at home as 12.5-point favorites. Dennis Schroder was the Lakers’ leading scorer with 18 points as both LeBron James (ankle) and  Anthony Davis (flu) had the night off. Both are probable to return Friday night to face the 76ers.

Prior to going 0-2 SU and ATS over their last two games, the Lakers had compiled an impressive 8-2 SU and ATS run over their previous 10 games. Davis has been the driving force behind the turnaround, averaging 35.3 points and 15.6 rebounds over that stretch. Davis was limited to only eight minutes of action before leaving Tuesday night’s 116-102 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers with flu symptoms.

Philadelphia Hoping To Snap 3-Game Losing Streak

The 76ers couldn’t get the job done as 8-point road favorites in a 132-123 double-overtime loss to the Houston Rockets on Monday night. Joel Embiid finished the night with 39 points while Tobias Harris added a season-high 27, but Houston outscored Philly 15-6 in the second overtime to post the upset. Philadelphia fell to 0-3 SU and ATS over its last three games.

The team had seemingly shaken off its early-season struggles with a 7-2 SU and 8-1 ATS run through the second half of November, but losing all three games over this last three-game road trip was an obvious step backwards. Philadelphia plays its next seven games at home, where the 76ers are 7-5 SU and 8-4 ATS this season.

Lakers Player Prop: Anthony Davis OVER 11.5 Rebounds (-121)

Before leaving his start against Cleveland after only eight minutes, Anthony Davis had recorded 12 or more rebounds in nine of his previous 10 games. Look for Davis to continue his dominance on the boards with at least 12 more rebounds in Philadelphia.

76ers Player Prop: Joel Embiid OVER 31.5 Points (-109)

Joel Embiid is averaging 31.9 points per game this season and has scored 32 or more in six of his last eight games. Facing Anthony Davis will make it tough to get to 32 points, but look for Embiid to rise to the challenge at home with a big game on offense.

Lakers: Keys to Win

The 76ers have the second-best scoring defense in the NBA, allowing only 107.6 points per game. Given that points will be hard to come by against this stingy defense, the Lakers may need Anthony Davis to return to form with another monster game to break through as a Lakers vs 76ers prediction.

76ers: Keys to Win

Philadelphia has scored only 101.5 points per game in regulation over its last four games. The 76ers have the defense to win low-scoring games, but getting things going on offense would provide a much clearer path to a win and cover as a Lakers vs 76ers pick at home.
